I was anticipating something else, happy with what I got

I wanted to absolutely love this novel. I wanted it to feel as though it were ripped from the headlines and presented an interesting case to me in a new fashion. And that is sort of what I go. It took an extremely long time for me to receive my copy of Mister Tender's Girl, so I wasn't in the mood to read it when I finally received it. However, one day I decided that I was in the mood for something different from what I'd been reading, which at the time was a lot of fantasy. All in all this novel is easy to read, it holds your attention, and piques interest for many readers. I still feel as if something was missing, which I'm not really annoyed by. I don't think it went as far as it could go, which in this instance was a good thing. At the same time I don't think this novel is finished, maybe there's a sequel?
