Bumpy Start, Strong Finish
When I first started reading Mister Tender's Girl, I thought it was one of those novels that was going to have a very standard plot that followed the book backing and maybe one or two twists. The set up for the twist were so clever and unseen that at first the novel may come off like a formula.
With a plotline where you ask yourself, is this a watered down Gone Girl. Alice Hill's father wrote about a Mister Tender. At 14 Alice gets attacked by two boys who claim she was a sacrifice for Mister Tender. The story picks up years later.
The twist and turns are very abundant and you just never know who is actually stalking Alice. It fills that novel size hole that Sager left with Final Girls and I'm more than happy it did. Certainly worth a pick up.
