This is a solid title from Luesse, taking a hint of The Help, Fried Green Tomatoes and other southern novels that comment on race. Luesse uses the creation of characters of all ages and races to paint vivid and sometimes heartbreaking portraits of this southern town. Luesse has a distinct voice that makes every turn of the page necessary to just see what happened, and it's near impossible to put down.

This was a genre change for me, and I was more than glad that I did decide to pick up this great novel. It's easy to see this being optioned into a movie much like the titles I listed below. There are many good stories that teach lessons, both good and bad, that still need telling from this time frame. Luesse will definitely be on my authors to watch list and if you are thinking of picking up a copy of Missing Issac, I say do so.
