The excerpt kicks off this book with a very fast and dramatic start. It's clear from the tone of this book that there will be some deep sadness and emotions in this book. It's impressive that the short excerpt really manages to convey both drama and tone in such few pages, which speaks highly to what to expect from this book. If the rest of the story continues with the same pacing, then I think the cover is doing this book a bit of a disservice- it brings to mind a slower and more peaceful book than what I found the excerpt to be.
