The story is such an amazing concept. As a Southerner, I really loved the inclusion of Southern charm and dialect. This story does start out with the main character addressing family loss (grief), so it could be a little bit of a trigger for someone who recently lost a loved one. However, the story includes some magical elements infused with female empowerment and is woven beautifully into a beautiful story worth reading. I always enjoy a story with good character development as well. I did give it a 4 because the pacing is somewhat slower than what I care for but I believe it is because the author wanted to really build up the scenery and dynamics of the family as well as the family's history. It's not a terrible thing to do, but I prefer if authors can do it in a concise way or in a way to keep the story interesting instead of feeling overly wordy.
