This story had me hooked from the start. Somewhat reminiscent of the writings of Alice Hoffman, this story was filled with love, loss and magic. The town of Wicklow, Alabama has a unique mystery surrounding the blackbirds that sing at midnight. Magic in blackberry pie, and characters trying to figure out life and what it is about this southern town that one can't seem to get away from. Some might think this is a simple book, it's not very complex. But the writing is done well and the characters are very relatable. If you're looking for a book to take to the beach or a gift for a fellow reader
