Many thanks to bookishfirst for sending me an advanced copy of Midnight at the Blackbird Cafe by Heather Webber in return for my honest review.

I read a great deal, and although I often find parts of a novel to love, it is the rare one that I adore from beginning to end. Such was the case with Midnight at the Blackbird Cafe. I just loved it, and I was sorry when it ended. It had southern charm, quirky, lovable characters, and a substantial and engaging story; it held my attention throughout, and I was sorry for it to end. The chapters alternated between the perspectives of Anna Kate and Natalie, both recent, reluctant returnees to this small Alabama town. Both are struggling to find their place, discover who they are, and free themselves from long buried secrets. Ollie, Natalie's toddler, was spot on and I couldn't get enough of her. The story reminded me of the work of Sarah Addison Allen with its magical realism and entrancing, unique story-telling. Highly recommended.
