If I had to give a quick summary of Midnight at the Blackbird Cafe: an ooey-gooey, feel good, happy ending summer time read. While this wasn't particularly funny, it was a good palette cleanser. It was very easy, light-hearted and just a sweet read. This book is rather serious at times (death, illness), but that wasn't the main point of the book. The main point is "family is important" which I personally never get tired of in a book. It was definitely predictable, and the characters were all rather lovable in their own special ways. This doesn't all make for a thrilling, high speed, roller coaster of a read, but it certainly makes for a sweet book that just makes you feel good after you read it.
