A Sweet Story
Family. Promises. Secrets. Midnight at the Blackbird Cafe takes a look at the power of each of these things, and their ability to shape and change our lives.
This was a sweet book focusing on Anna Kate's journey to find her roots, to find out about her father, and to ultimately find herself. I tend to read a lot of thrillers or big dramas, so this was a nice change of pace for me. I keep coming back to the word "sweet" because while there was a level of drama in it, it was a more personal, emotional kind, and not the kind of drama that is over the top or malicious.
I felt that through the writing, the author transported me to the town of Wicklow, and I could see myself there and imagine myself interacting with the town's cast of characters. I believe in the magic of the blackbirds and because the author made it so real to me, I would love to visit this little town!
