Southern themed books are not my favorite genre. Mostly because I live in the south, and most of the time Southern themed books can exaggerate characters, especially by their southern drawl. So most of the time I find myself rolling my eyes as I read. I was prepared for that when I started my First Impression of Midnight at the Blackbird Cafe. But there was no rolling of the eyes. It reminded me a lot of Alice Hoffman's Practical Magic. I was intrigued by the mystery of it all, and I wouldn't mind reading more. And the cover doesn't hurt either. Now, I'm off to make a blackbird pie!
