I read books to escape, not to be reminded of the reality I live in. That being said, I didn't like anything about this book. It's not a bad book, but it's not a subject I'd care to read about. I don't like books that feel too heavy handed with "heavier" social issues. If I'm reading about social issues, I at least want them to be writing in lyrical prose. Just a personal preference.
