Everyone makes mistakes
A white woman who tries to be anti-racist will still at some point participate in upholding white supremacy. A man who strongly believes in feminism will still at some point use the patriarchy to gain an advantage. In this story, an Indian-American man who receives racist microagressions from his white peers then uses an anti-Black phrase in a misguided attempt at non-white camaraderie. The question is what will you do after you make that mistake? It's uncomfortable but we have to acknowledge the harms we cause and then work to do better. I'm curious to see how Raj will make things right after his thoughtless remark.
