Honestly, this book seems to be for a very narrow audience. Incredibly narrow, actually. Especially since, even to most of the geek community, Magic tends to be seen as a bit of a joke. Like, you're at a Con, and there's the booths, and there's the cosplayers, and then there's two or three people over in the corner playing Magic. It's kind of seen as a has-been game. Something that's respected for its part in helping to create modern gaming culture, but not really a part of it anymore. Part of that is of course, the very purpose of this book, the cards. There are just too many cards. The amount of cards makes it very hard for new players to come into the game, meaning its not very welcoming. There have been attempts to make it easier to start playing, but never particularly successfully. I don't see this book changing that, especially since this book is clearly written for someone already into the game. There's too much jargon for it to be otherwise.
