If you thought you were going into a book of Harry Potter world proportions you'd be right but a little off. This world is magical in small ways. The way it evokes the raw feeling of Ivy as she questions and observes. She is an unfiltered detective who understands reality and grounds herself in it. Her anger, regret, bitterness, and solitude pulls you in to become attached in her actions. She is caught up in a magical world she has no part in and actively rejects it as, she feels, it rejected her. This book has me locked in with each chapter and I'm stunned by its little intricacies which entangle my curiosity for more. In a modern twist on the old magical concepts, this book explores the more gruesome aspects of magic and life.
