...but I just didn't. The book ended up being pretty average for me.

I was drawn in to the fact that it was a mystery fantasy book because that is a really uncommon thing (which does make me want to investigate further).

Ivy is the lead for the mystery side and her sister is all magic all the time. So the two halves do intertwine well. I also like the concept of magic school and magic exists but the whole rest of the world is left unaware. It adds another layer to the setting of the story and that is set up well.

However, for the total plot. The mystery side was fairly predictable. The magic side didn't do anything new or unique. So it was an average mystery plot mixed in with an average fantasy plot.

I will give you that it is a fast paced, easy to follow read, which I like to think of as a palate cleanser, so bonus points there. But I was just hoping for more!
