As someone who grew up on fantasy, and Harry Potter, and the like... you think you know how those stories go. And then you're surprised by something that takes that familiar setting and shows you that you were only seeing two dimensions, and holy bananas, there are three.
We always like to think that if there were magic in the world, we'd get that letter, but what happens to the kids that don't? Magic for Liars gives a glimpse into that life, the hurt that goes with it, the questions, the lies. And then what happens when that adult who grew up with such complicated feelings about magic gets invited behind the curtain to save it? Magic, no lie.
Sarah Gailey has rapidly become one of my favorite authors. I started seeing their brilliance on twitter, then read River of Teeth, and was hotly anticipating Magic for Liars. And I was not disappointed!
