This was such an exciting fantasy adventure--Sarah Bailey definitely has some writing talent that I plan to explore more in the future! I've read a lot of fantasy based with some sort of detective at its core and there have been many hits and misses within those, so if I'm being honest, I was slightly anxious about what to expect from this book. My fears were entirely misplaced, however, because Magic for Liars was such an engaging and inventive novel and I immediately found myself entranced by the story.
I loved Ivy as a main protagonist, as she was exciting and unpredictable, but also very down to earth and relatable at many points. I really enjoyed following her through the unpredictable events of this plot line. The plot itself is not exactly fast-paced all the time, but it has a compelling thread and writing style that left me easily flipping the pages.
Overall, I really enjoyed Magic for Liars and would definitely recommend it!
