Okay, so I enjoyed this one as a fun read, but I also felt like the ending/big reveal was a little underwhelming. This may just be me reading too much related to mystery/true crime (while this is fiction, of course, the same elements of true crime/mystery are there) and just not being shocked by much of anything in that vein. It was definitely worth reading, especially if you need just a quick mystery interlaced with some fun magic overtones. The characters are interesting and have some depth to them. There's also some humor interlaced throughout the book, so even though the subject is dark at its core, you may still find yourself laughing out loud (like the overtones of the book, the humor can be dark, so take this with a grain of salt if dark humor is not your thing). Gailey also identifies as non-binary, so if you're looking for a book to replace the Harry Potter/JKR sized hole in your heart, this is a great title to support.
