My first impression based off the prologue was oh great, a Harry Potter knock off, but then I kept reading, and it got, just oh so amazingly good. Once it got to the detective part, it started to get a very noir old Hollywood, dark and gritty feel to it and it reads like an old style detective novel. Mixed up with magic, a reluctant detective on the case of a mage split in two and a twin sister at the academy she now has to investigate this book is spilling over with amazing. Very much looking forward to an opportunity to finish this novel.
