I was caught in this novel by the first page alone! I grew up with my Dad loving all things cowboys and outlaws (or dogs were named Jesse and James so he could shout "Jesse James!" when he called them inside).
I also love the ambition of Shane in the first bit and how strong they seemed to be in surviving. Those always make such fun characters to read about.
