The start with the prologue that threw you into the goriness of the books makes you needing more as soon as you start reading the first chapter. When the book starts there is a good introduction in to what is to come in the story. The foreshadowing of the constant mentions of murder makes me want to know what is going to happen next. The character introductions are done well and are very smooth from on person to the next.
I am interested know about how the relationship of the main characters two ex-best friends develops and how it effects the main characters semester at sea. The prologue suggest that it won't end well however the story line appears as though it will make the suspense unbearable. Though the murder isn't necessarily the most realistic situation for semester at sea it is something many are interested in and can learn about through this story.
