This was a very exciting historical fiction book that was excellently crafted!
I was initially interested because of the absolutely beautiful cover and I'm happy to say that the story inside did not disappoint! I have always been interested in history and I like that I had an opportunity to learn about the Chinese passengers on the Titanic. In all my years of history classes I have never heard about them, which is a shame. The prejudice these characters experience is hard to read, but it would be a disservice if it was left out.
At some parts I even forgot the setting of the book I was so absorbed in their story. I loved that the main focus of this story wasn't an epic live story, it was much more focused on family, both biological and family of choice. The romance subplot was nice, and didn't pull focus too much. I am excited to read more by Stacey Lee in the future.
