Such a Good YA Historical Fiction Novel!
This YA historical fiction novel was sooo good! We all know know that the Titanic hit an iceberg and sunk, (if not, whoops SPOILER! 😂), but the story that the author tells in this book keeps you wanting to know what happens next.
We all learn in the author's note that this book was written in remembrance of the 8 Chinese men who were aboard the Titanic, and the ones who survived never felt worthy enough to tell their story. As an Asian-American, I was suprised that I never heard of these Chinese men. My daughter is half Asian/half white, and I just think if we were back in the year 1912, how she would be treated. I loved that this book discussed interracial family dynamics, and I just can't imagine how hard it would for my family and I based on the way we look if we were still in those times.
This truly was a wonderful novel, and even though it is classified as a YA, I think adults will like it.
