heartbreaking!
Luck of the Titanic is heartbreaking, and wonderfully written. Stacey Lee's historical fiction is otherworldly, and completely immersive. I found myself enjoying Luck of the Titanic even more than I did The Downstairs Girl, and was pleasantly surprised. While I'm quite familiar with the tragedy of the Titanic, I still found myself desperately hoping that the ending would be different this time, and that our characters would have a happy ending. The family bond, romance, class dynamics, and racism were all explored so well, and this is a book I think I'll find myself rereading again and again. Ultimately, I really enjoyed this story, especially given the news about the Chinese survivors on the Titanic that came out a few years ago, and will probably be doing a deep-dive into the history myself out of sheer curiosity and fascination.
