I would like to start off by saying that I can't think of a book that can rival this one.

The process of reading this book was as smooth as the actual trip of the Titanic.
The smooth sailing, the rough currents along the way, with the heartbreaking ending of the sinking.

I have never really been that big of a fan of historical fiction, but this book is most defiantly an exception.
Seeking out her brother who has been away for quite some time, him being her only remaining relative she has any relationship with, Valora Luck uses her wit and luck to aboard the Titanic. Under the guise of her old boss, she enters as a stowaway in first class, attempting to reclaim the relationship her brother and her once had. However, after so much time away, is he the same person? Along the way she meets her brothers newfound family and many other kind hearted people that help her along the way.

This book was so captivating that I finished it within a matter of hours. There is always a turn, a subtle mystery, or a hint at a detail about a characters past that keeps you turning the page.

I fell in lover with every character and the things that drove them. It was impossible not to feel for them.

The story was ultimately one of family, and the lengths that you would go for them(or they would go for you). Now don't be mistaken, Lee displays that family is very, very flawed in her writing, highlighting what real families can look like. It was not an unrealistic portrayal.

I appreciated that Stacey Lee highlighted a time in American history that is typically glossed over. She includes the historical law, The Chinese Exclusion Act, and displays the hatred and bias towards Asians at this time. Potential spoiler, but there was a part in the book where the characters were referred to as "Japs", displaying the ignorance tied the hatred.

The serious subjects in the book were paired nicely with the subtle hints of humor that were sprinkled in. Oh, and the slow burn romance. Slow burn romance absolutely haves my heart. It was absolutely beautiful and intense.

Slight spoiler ahead:

Be ready to have this book rip your heart out at the very last second. I cried and it took so long for me to collect myself.
