I really enjoyed this story about the Titanic! The fact that it was from a different perspective from the beginning made it almost a completely different experience from history.
I loved the main character Valora, and how we learn her origins. We learn her Chinese background, about her family, and most importantly, her brother. She is so spunky and brave!
The history tied in very well. The author did a great job on keeping that accurate. The differences in social classes and cultures were incredible in that day and age.
I will say that I was blindsided by the ending. I wouldn't change it one bit though, as it resonated with me that it was definitely Val's wish.... But man!!!!! I did not see that coming!!!
This has become a favorite of mine that I do recommend to family and friends alike who enjoy history and fiction. It's an easy read, but also a read that invokes emotion.
