Wow, this whirlwind of a story hooked me in right from the start! Valora sounds like a fascinating character and I would love to learn more about her. It sounds like she’s had a harrowing young life coping with the death of an alcoholic father while her brother Jamie was away. My heart was in my throat while Valora was sneaking onto the Titanic and pretending to be Mrs. Sloane once she was on board. Miss Hart is intriguing and it seems like she might play a key part in this story. Valora is fiercely determined to go to America while the Chinese Exclusion Act is in place. I’m glad this was included in the story because this is one aspect of American history that I don’t read about too often. Engrossing and thrilling—this beautifully crafted tale is bound to be a hit.
