Growing up, I suffered from lack of representation in media. It lead to a lifelong struggle with my Asian identity: it constantly made me want to be white. But lately, over quarantine, I've discovered so many Asian American authors. Within these books, I've found so much representation. I'll never feel as seen as I did when I first read Celeste Ng's Everything I Never Told You. I'm also currently relearning how to speak Chinese and I'm taking an Asian American Literature course in school. It was actually my Asian American Literature teacher who introduced me to this book!
I've honestly never wanted to read a book more in my life. I have this book on my most anticipated releases for this year. It would be such a blessing to receive this book and if I won, I'd literally block out my entire day to sit down and read it.
