I adore Stacey Lee, and I knew I wanted to read her next book even before I learned it was about a British-Chinese girl stowing away on the Titanic.

Growing up in the 90s, I was inundated with all things Titanic—from books to documentaries to yes, that little movie with Leo and Kate. So a little part of me is overjoyed to see this book come into the world, and know that it's shedding light onto the marginalized members of the fated crew—the eight Chinese passengers aboard the ship.

The cover is absolutely gorgeous, and the interior design is delightfully art nouveau. This was only the first few chapters, but right away I was hooked by Valora's voice—her desire to meet up with her twin, to get away from England and start a new life, and the weight of being see as less than human. And she's a tightrope walker! Cue my squeals of joy.

I definitely need more. I cannot wait until this is released and I can get a copy.
