Too Broad in Scope

Joshua Milburn’s book contained some good advice and useful information, but I felt it was too broad in scope. Others may disagree. There was information about his mother and some of her problems, his early life, first marriage, and ups and downs in his personal life. Some of that certainly was used to get across some points he was trying to make about relationships. Then running along beside that was the information about decluttering one’s life through careful thought about possessions. I originally thought this was going to be the main thrust of the book. Instead, at times it just seemed rather like an aside with that information put in a box within a chapter about relationships. That particular way of organizing the book was not appealing to me.
I’ve read other books about trying to simplify and having a richer life without so many possessions, and I’ve read books about relationships. Many ideas were similar to what was being expressed in Love People, Use Things. I think Mr. Milburn tried to put too much in this book. I found myself wanting to be done with the the book. Just one person’s opinion, of course.
