The prologue drew me into the story quickly. It was a little nugget of information that's relevance is more clearly revealed later in the story. I enjoyed having that first event dangling in the back of my mind. The flow of the story moves along quickly but I was a little lost in the first quarter of the novel with all of the different characters. It didn't take me long to get that all sorted and I found that I really liked, or disliked each character. There isn't a ton of background information to develop some of them but I found my favorites were more raw and drew more empathy from me as the story moves along. The author paints a very good overall picture but I didn't hear distinct 'voices' for some of the characters. Overall it's a good mystery that had me changing my mind a few times about the suspect. If you liked Little Fires Everywhere then you'll like this mystery too. I would consider another book by this author because of the writing style and pace of the story.
