I was not expecting to like this book so much. Too many fantasy novels have been weak at delivering lately, and it feels like it is hard to find something with a fresh concept (even a regular concept that is carried out uniquely).
This book is about a girl who is trying to escape her reality. Vanja has to lead a double life as a princess and jewel thief, and she is trying to fund her escape (admittedly, she did take over the life of Princess Gisele who is now left a poor girl). But everything for the plan goes wrong when Vanja ends up making a mistake with the wrong god. Cue storyline.
I thought the plot was very well carried out and had just the right amount of suspense and action.
This book was written by the same author of the Merciful Crow. By the way, I cannot express how much I loved the cover of this book. I think I would have gotten it just for the aesthetic alone.
