This is exactly what a fairy tale Retelling should be. I loved the writing and I really enjoyed the structure through out this book.

I really liked Gisele and Vanja. Both girls were complex and easy to relate to. While Gisele was more of a buttoned up in the beginning, it was very interesting watching how her life unraveled while Vanja was definitely a likeable antihero. Both girls grew so much throughout this standalone.

This was also a Goose Girl retelling. I wasn't familiar with the original story and I found that I liked that because it kept my focus on the way Margaret Owens writes. And that's another thing, I absolutely loved the writing. It was very much "fairy tale" but with also her original spin on it. This is how you make a retelling your own.

I also really liked that although this technically isn't a heist book, it gives the vibe of one. And who doesn't love a good heist? I'm a sucker for that and I was hooked with all the plots going on. I was really impressed by the way Owens can deftly weave multiple plots while still feeling natural and organized instead all over the place.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book. There's a lot more I can get into, but I don't want to spoil anything. With a dynamic cast of characters, great plot and action, this is a fairy tale retelling you won't want to miss.
