I loved this cover and I definitely judged this book off its cover. However, this book dragged. I pushed myself to finish it as it was an ARC and I wanted to finish it before the launch date.
I had not read the “Golden Goose/Golden Girl” story prior to reading this story, so I went in without that prior knowledge. The book started strong and then quickly fell apart.
Right away, it seems like the author was hellbent on hitting the 500 page mark and not going a word over. The book is exactly 500 pages and there is no need for that. It is incredibly dense and word heavy for the story. The description are un-necessary in most of the cases.
I wish I had enjoyed this more as I see it is the start of a series but I will be passing on the rest. If you are in love with classic story re-telling, you may love this. Just know it is a bit dense compared to others, such as the twisted tales from disney.
