This book has easily become one of my favorite reads of the year.

Little Thieves by Margaret Owen is a retelling of the fairytale "The Goose Girl." It features Vanja, a thief who has stolen the life of a princess and is using that privilege to steal from members of the nobility. Of course, that all goes downhill pretty fast. Before I get into the content of this book, I want to briefly mention how gorgeous it is. The cover artwork is so wonderful as well as the art at the beginning of each section of the book. Also, at the beginning of each chapter, the moon is filled in closer to the full moon. Those little details made the reading experience all the more special for me.

I ADORED this book. Truly, I felt so seen by Vanja's character and related to her so much. She's mean but she's /trying/ so hard to finally be "good." There are so many emotional moments throughout that had my heart truly aching for her; I cried a few times too! I loved watching her development through the book, and even though I was rooting for her from the get-go (I love an anti-heroine), I was rooting even more for her at the end.

I also love the plot of this book. I loved the world and the connection between fantasy and the gods and the world of humans. I loved all the supporting characters and the bits of romance and god, I adored everything about this book. I just finished it and I want to start over and read it again already.
