My First Margaret Owen Book
Little Thieves is the first book I've read by Margaret Owen and that being the case, I feel like her writing style is definitely something to get used to. This book is flowy and witty and a bit confusing at times...as such, it took me a bit to get into, but it was definitely worth the effort.
This story felt like it landed in typical fantasy territory (castle, village, forest...medieval times). Which is not a bad thing at all, it makes for easier world building and I feel like with a more complex fantasy setting, I would've been super lost so I appreciate that simplicity. It's definitely a book you want to read slowly to be able to absorb everything that's happening and to thoroughly enjoy it as the story as a whole is so intriguing!
I also really liked how the book is broken into parts and each new tale brings a new illustration. It just adds an extra flair to the story and I just love books with illustrations. :)
Overall, I really enjoyed this book and I am looking forward to re-reading it in the future as I'm sure there's plenty I missed the first time through.
Thank you Henry Holt & Company via BookishFirst for the advanced finished copy to read and honestly review.
