To begin with I have never in my life heard of "The Goose Girl", but really, I guess I don't need to nor will I seek it out. Instead, I will just bask in the glory of Margaret Owen's new young adult novel Little Thieves.

I went for this novel based on the opening line "Once upon a time, there was a terrible girl..." I mean come on! That's it! Sold! This is the story of Vanja, who is the goddaughter of both Death and Fortune, who are just some of the gods that inhabit this world. She's an anti-hero for sure, but totally relatable. Essentially enslaved to take care of an ostracized princess and her family (by her godmothers, of course), Vanja gets fed up and decides to take fate into her own hands and boy does she do one heck of a job at it. It's called Little Thieves for a reason and Vanja gets her hands on something she really shouldn't have. Oops. It's worth reading this one just to follow Vanja and her crew. You won't be disappointed.
