I have a love/dislike relationship with this book! Here is why....

The plot is excellent. Lo the main character gives birth to twin boys. Has no idea if she will be a "natural" born mother. Then late one night, her protective mama bear kicks in as she hides in the bathroom on her hospital floor. She is hiding from a creature that wants to take her babies! You can't beat that plot! Sleep with one arm on your children tonight, readers! Because no one believes a sleep deprived mother....

My love for this book. The plot, I love dark fairy tales or folklore. This book was my genre!

The pace of the book, it was a fast read.

Lo knew those were not her twin boys once they were changed. Lo would stop at nothing to get her boys back. Although Lo was annoying at times, her determination was awesome.

Also I liked the stories at the beginning of each chapter. (Small blurbs of fairy tales or folklore). That was very unique.

My dislike for this book.

So many things were unnecessary or odd.
A weird seen with the doctor at the beginning, were he seemed to shove his entire hand up Lo and rip her stitches. Thrown in unnecessarily for shock value? ? YUCK!

The romance with Harper and Amy seemed forced. I don't normally read girl/girl romance. However, I enjoy diverse characters in books. If you are going to throw in a gay romance, or any romance make it realistic and not forced. The LGTBQ community should be represented well in books. Not just forced into a book to say you added a diverse character. Do the LGTBQ community justice. The author did not in this book, sadly.

Another issue, the husband! Oh the husband what a jerk and bad representation of a new father. I was sickened by the interactions Lo had with her husband. What a looser. The police chief as well. So apparently, the author doesn't like men, all the male characters were jerks, cheaters, not understanding, pig headed, etc.... Obviously, no good male remodels in this book. Could have thrown in one good man for good measure.

Overall, I didn't dislike the book. I rated it 3 stars for the story itself, the flow of her writing (although a lot could have been taken out), also I just kept reading I needed to get to the end. I think the ending could have been different (seemed hanging). It really bothered me how the author represents mental illness, as well. But I won't go into that...Dispite putting a lot of bad things, this book I still liked. I definitely will watch the movie when it comes out! This is a book that seems like the movie would be better.
