Little Darlings is a strange book; a mash-up of a fairytale and a mystery novel in one. The story definitely caught my attention at first: new mom of twins, clearly overwhelmed, claims that a "swamp woman" tried to take her newborn babies and exchange them for something non-human. As a mom myself, I was intrigued. And, I love sci-fi and fairytales. Unfortunately, I became bored with the story about 85% of the way through. Lauren, the mom, has a history of mental instability. Her husband believes that this, coupled with the stress of being a new mom of twins, has caused Lauren to lose touch with reality. The only person who remotely believes Lauren's claims of an attempted kidnapping is LT Harper...but even she has her doubts. In the end, the reader is left wondering if something supernatural did occur.
