I wanted more from this
This was an OK read for me. I thought the writing style was well done. It was tantalizing, full of dark imagery, and kept my attention until the very end. I think the dual point of views worked within this; although I felt some of the supporting characters to be underdeveloped and lacking any true purpose.
I loved the concept of including elements of folklore, and wish that had played more of a role in the overall conflict of this. I think there have been so many stories with an unreliable female narrator that I am kind of done with that trope.
I also felt that the representation of mental health could have been done better. I wished that Lauren had some type of support system, but instead we're left with this idea of you have to go through it alone. Which as a society, we are very careful to make people aware that we are there for them and that we care, even if we aren't in their immediate social circle.
