I really enjoyed this super-creepy story! When Lauren meets a strange, ominous old woman at the hospital who asks to trade babies with her, everyone tells her she is sleep deprived and stressed out and obviously seeing things. But is she? When her babies later disappear, they are later returned but she is convinced they aren’t her babies, even though they look like them.
The inclusion of several horrific fairy tales & folktales about changelings along with the ambiguity of it (*were* they taken? Or is she just crazy??) made it a compelling read. I actually give this 4.5 stars, because though I liked the detective & her story, I could have done without her odd romance—it didn’t really add anything.
