This book was not what I expected. It starts out with a young couple who are having twin boys in the hospital. It brought up emotions in me from when I had my own children and I felt what the characters felt with the birth of their child, the fears you face that they are being feed properly, they are breathing when you put them to bed, etc. Taking them home the hospital and you are now on your own. But it also shows the joy and love you experience having a child and you will do anything for your child and to make sure they are safe.

At the beginning of each chapter is a piece taken from books and old wives tales from the past of how to keep evil spirits away. You can see why people would be afraid of something happening to your child if you were a young mother. You alway want to make sure you are doing the right thing. And never give a new mother a book of old fairy tales.

With sleep deprivation and a husband who is unsupportive you can see why the mother is in needed of help.

I think this book looks at the mothers who have done horrible things to their children and a sane person would never understand what they were thinking. But in this book it gives a little bit of an incline that they really do think they are doing right by there child, which they are not.

I love the authours style of writing and look forward to her next book.

A MUST READ!
