I'm not a mom, and one of the reasons is because I am terrified by the idea of giving birth and then just being instantly responsible for the well-being of another life.

In this novel, Lauren deals with a traumatic child-birth and then finds herself alone with her newborn twins! Within the first dozen pages, the author deftly conveys the feelings of stress and exhaustion Lauren feels.

And then the weird dreams about the other woman in the room with the twins- Lauren thinks they are dreams... at first.

I wouldn't recommend reading this if you're pregnant or trying to become pregnant - Golding is too good at descriptive writing! This isn't my kind of book, but I could definitely see this in the hands of readers of domestic fiction who like a serious dash of horror!
