This was a dark, compelling tale with a very real and very tangible sense of worry, helplessness and impotence, which culminated in this quiet sort of constant urgent desperation that masterfully drove the plot forward.

What I found most interesting about this book is the fact that the line was so blurred that you couldn't really tell whether what Lauren was experiencing was actually happening or if it was simply a delusion brought on by a combination of sleep deprivation and postpartum depression. The blending between reality and fantasy was flawless.

The writing was great. Simple and easy to follow along with, but unquestionably gripping. And even though I don't have kids, I found myself instantly empathizing with Lauren, a first time mother just overwhelmed by it all. And indignated at the seeming reluctance everyone around her had to help.
