This book was a wonderful merging of old folklore and modern suspense. when I wasn't totally under the spell of the book I marveled at how well the two worked together. Was Lauren going crazy? Had someone really switched her babies? Or was someone trying to drive her crazy? Ms. Golding did a terrific job of balancing all the possibilities. I really enjoyed her character development but wish the husband hadn't been such a complete jerk and that there had been someone on Lauren's side. Her two friends were never confidants and that might have added a bit more to balance out Lauren since we only really see her after the twin's birth. The reader has no clue what is normal for Lauren and what is brought on my the situation. Still, all in all, a really enthralling read!
