3.5 stars to be honest. I received this book as an ARC and I was so excited to read it- the premise of the book gripped me and had me hooked! I was immediately intrigued by the beautiful, simplistic cover!
The story heavily focuses on family struggles and has a paranormal aspect to it. It definitely wasn't a heart-wrencher or tear-jerker like I expected, but it was an enjoyable storyline overall.
Unfortunately, it didn't completely live up to my expectations but overall, I enjoyed the book. I found the story very slow-moving, stagnant, drawn-out, and even confusing at times. For pages at a time, I felt lost. That could have been because it also took me much longer than expected to read the book. And it took me much longer because I kept getting lost and it wasn't gripping me like I'd hoped.... It's just an endless circle.
I love the twist that caught me off guard and got my reading the last 100-ish pages at a much quicker pace, but I still feel like the story didn't completely tie together at the end.
