I thought I was going to read a murder mystery but what I found was something incredibly written. It's Cohen's story, told in the present (2015) and his past, as a young boy. Cohen is such a interesting character. It starts off with him finding his dad dying and you immediately figure he's murdered his own father. As you read and discover what he went through in his childhood, you see that there is so much more to him. I found myself having completely opposite feelings about several characters as time went on. For example, both of his parents I ended up with different feelings for them in the end. This is my first Shawn Smucker novel but I am planning on checking out his other books. What an incredible book!
