As Cohen steps over the body of his father he wonders if he was the reason for his father’s death. I loved the start to this book. (And the ending) The beginning captivated me and it’s one of those books that you can’t put down. Father/ son relationships, a mother that leaves her family, a blurred past, memories that can’t be avoided and a beast that three innocent children hunt. As his father lays dying Cohen reflects upon his own childhood, on what was real and what was imagined. The past haunts him and the question remains,..did he kill his father? This book totally took me by surprise. It’s eerie and the “beast”’added a certain element of surprise and darkness. I absolutely loved the writing and most certainly will read more books by this author.
