Light from Distant Stars by Shawn Smucker was a intriguing read. The beginning was a bit slow. But as the story went on the reader really got to see the main character (Cohen) grow. I really liked how the story would flip back and forth between Cohen's adolescences and his present day.
The plot was well written once you get past the lag in the beginning. I liked that the story had multiple stories within it. How the story grew along with Cohen.
Something I did not expect from this book was how religious it was. The book summary I read before the book did not foreshadow any religious aspects. This did not take away from the story it was just unexpected. But Christianity played a key role in the story which I was unaware of going into it.
