This book was about a man named Cohen that walks into the funeral home that he works at and finds his father presumably dead on the floor and he thinks that he has murdered his father. They had had an argument the night before and he blames himself. He leaves the funeral home and proceeds to go to his nephew's game as opposed to reporting the death. It turned out the father was not dead, but was in critical condition in the hospital. The book chronicles Cohen's past and his parent's divorce and goes back and forth into the past and present to tell his story. He had a childhood that was separated from his mom and sister and they went their own way in the divorce and he was left with his father. There was a dark occurrence in his past that is damaging to him. At his father's deathbed, he is finally able to come to terms with the relationship with his parents and to move forward. I really liked this book and would love to go back and read more from this author. Thanks for the ARC, Bookish First.
